The Journey Begins...

At the end of 2023 Batesville Main Street received funding via the John A Hillenbrand Foundation, the William A and Martha H Hillenbrand Foundation, and the City of Batesville Redevelopment Commission to embark on the process of developing a Downtown Vision Plan. HWC Engineering was hired to facilitate the planning process.

Reason for the Plan

The purpose of the plan is to help the City of Batesville identify a vision for its downtown based on community input that will serve as a playbook for planning, decision making, and development. The guiding principles in the plan development are:

Reorient Downtown to People (not vehicles)

Increase Downtown Activity

Establish Downtown as a Destination

Having a current up to date plan is a prerequisite for organizations such as ours to apply for grant funding to help fund the improvements.
