Batesville Main Street strives to preserve Batesville’s illustrious history while continuously looking for ways to transform and cultivate an inviting community gathering space and to promote investment into our downtown district so that it thrives as a place to live, shop, and own a business.
Originally founded in 2010 by a volunteer board of directors in coordination with the City and Mayor’s Office, Batesville Main Street was established to be a catalyst for economic and physical rehabilitation for downtown Batesville. As a community organization, Batesville Main Street was unique in that it focused exclusively on the development of downtown and opened the door for grant opportunities. Two such grant awards included the State of Indiana $250,000 facade grant for local businesses and the T-Mobile $50,000 grant that helped fund Inspiration Park.
Batesville Main Street became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2017, thanks to the support of the John A. Hillenbrand Foundation. An Executive Director was hired in 2019, and in 2020, the organization earned official recognition as an Indiana Accredited Main Street.
Today, Batesville Main Street continues to prosper serving the downtown district. Batesville Main Street pursues continual and transformative improvement of the downtown district through efforts guided by Main Street’s Four Points: Design, Economic Vitality, Events & Promotion, and Organizational Sustainability. Each of these Four Points is emulated through a specified committee which formulates and executes community focused initiatives.
